College football is one of the greatest sports in U.S. society. From fall to winter, every Saturday, millions of fans are thrilled to see young student athletes play on the gridiron and put all their heart and soul into the game. Great legends and human stories have emerged over the many decades.
Bowl Championship Series (BCS) commissioners continue to meet to decide on a possible playoff system by 2014. A decision is expected in the next two (2) weeks or so.
Since substantial financial rewards may be at stake, any policy framework and its outcome must focus on a transparent, fair and equitable methodology & approach. In addition, implementation must be highly practical and realistic.
Proper and due consideration must be given to each regular season's conference champion as well as runner's up.
In addition, other smaller, but, highly qualified NCAA Division 1 colleges must also be given a chance to give their best shot in playing for the BCS national championship game.
Beyond just computers and polls, much emphasis must be given to how teams actually perform on the football field with success and results.
It is important for all BCS stakeholders to focus on making the right decisions, beyond politics and deals, and give a sustainable and viable solution to one of America's favorite past times.
