Paths to Meditation

There is much discussion and writings about yoga and meditation by various experts around the world who have been there and done it successfully over the many years. Today, as yoga and meditation gain much popularity worldwide, one of the most important things is to really better understand and appreciate the various paths to meditation. One commonly utilized path is based on the three basic steps of any “sadhana” or inward path, utilizing yoga and meditation, are “Concentration-Contemplation-Meditation” with the goal of unity of “Spirit-Mind-Body.”

Firstly; Concentration, while deep breathing, when our Conscious or “awake” state-of-mind focuses, through our five senses, on any animate or inanimate object in the physical world.

Secondly; Contemplation, while deep breathing, when our physical eyes are closed and our Sub-Conscious or “aware” state-of-mind focuses, on the “video-screen” of the mind, and visualizes any animate or inanimate objects in the physical world.

Finally; Meditation, while deep breathing, when our physical eyes are closed and through our “inner-eye”, our innate Consciousness, via Constant Integrated Awareness, experiences total “Oneness” of all animate and inanimate objects in the physical world; “Beings Are Many, Breath is Only One.”

It is important to note that both yoga and meditation can be practiced by beginners, intermediate as well as advanced stage levels. The key to any success is to start gradually, maintain steadiness, practice regularly, and achieve the desired goals and benefits. With successful practice, the individual derives all the various wellness benefits of yoga and meditation leading to positive health and lifestyle.
