Addressing Diabetes & Nephrotic Syndrome

“Life is what happens to you while you’re busy making other plans” – John Lennon

Various combinations and permutations of key mechanisms which cause diabetes, whether type 1 or 2, are becoming better understood. In addition, today, there is also a better understanding and appreciation of nephrotic syndrome. Specifically, modern medicine, over the last 2-3 decades, has done extensive research into the primary and secondary causes and diagnosis of both diabetes and nephrotic syndrome. Diabetes, being a metabolic disease in which the pancreas does not produce enough insulin resulting in high levels of blood sugar. Nephrotic syndrome being a nonspecific disorder in which damaged kidneys cause significant leakage of very important blood proteins such as albumin.

Diabetes, nephrotic syndrome, resulting side effects, all occurring simultaneously in an individual, and their effective treatment is yet to be properly addressed by allopathic means and methods. Holistic wellness methods and practices may hold the key to unlocking both near-term and long-term treatment as well as sustainable benefits for individuals. Proper good health is always paramount.

On a personal level, I competed at Herbert Hoover High School in Glendale, California in the 880 yards and cross-country. I was later a "very average walk-on” to the men’s track & field team in the 800 meters at the University of Southern California (USC), Los Angeles, California. Subsequently, I competed for the Bechtel Corporation, as part of Corporate Challenge track meets, in the 400 meters and 800 meters. During various speed, interval and distance workouts and competition, there were repetitive signs of deep exhaustion, nausea, stress, strain and fatigue.

I was basically battling early signs of diabetes, nephrotic syndrome and other health issues (all diagnosed in later years including various forms of fatigue; metabolic, neuro-muscular and central nervous system etc.). I was not at-par with any of the many championship-level and elite athletes on the various teams.

Subsequently, over a two decade period, training and competition was totally stopped and weight drastically increased and I was detected with significantly high levels of blood sugar, A1C hemoglobin, cholesterol, and high albumin leakage. As a result, I was prescribed a large cocktail of allopathic prescription medications by medical doctors for reducing and/or improving the above levels. After undergoing continual road-to-good health coupled with proper training, I journeyed to India and sought-out holistic wellness methods and practices as a means to address diabetes, nephrotic syndrome, and resulting side effects.

I undertook intensive focus on positive health and lifestyle based on proper rest, diet, exercise, balance and motivation. In addition, undertook regular practice of sadhana, yoga, ayurveda, and pranayama.

I also incorporated and leveraged relaxation, flexibility, stress management, endurance and performance with focus on proper good health as being paramount.  As always in life, there are really no short-cuts, but sheer hard work, while undertaking any kind of physical fitness or competitive training program and an optimal balance must be maintained while never compromising proper good health.

Based on recent medical test results, medical doctors were amazed to find my blood sugar levels, A1C hemoglobin, cholesterol, blood pressure, blood albumin etc. are all at normal levels without any allopathic medication(s).

In summary, diabetes, nephrotic syndrome and resulting side effects can be very detrimental to an individual’s overall health, lifestyle and well-being. Addressing the effective treatment through holistic wellness may be the key for proper good health which is always paramount.
