From the
onset, keeping an open mind, it is always very important to get highly
qualified multiple professional opinions on different available pathways to
address effective course of action.
Throughout the process, with proper science, innovation and technology,
it is essential to clearly understand the nature of the diagnosis, the probable
and possible underlying cause(s), the effective course of corrective action(s),
and the likely impact and outcome(s) if the corrective action(s) are
implemented along with risks and mitigation.
Through an
interactive, consultative, collaborative, and focused process with the
different physicians, I had to deal with specific options such as; surgery,
chemotherapy, standard radiation, high dose radiation, hormone therapy and
brachytherapy. In addition, after
additional advice and consultation, I accepted the fact that I must also undertake
restorative, regenerative, and alternative holistic therapies such as Yoga,
Pranayama, Ayurveda, Tai Chi, and related pathways. I realize
that it is very critical to clearly listen, understand and appreciate what is
being advised to me by the various physicians and to make and take personal
time to concentrate, contemplate and meditate prior to arriving at a definitive
decision on taking next steps. I also realize
it is very important to undertake a proactive focus as well as accepting personal
responsibility to continually stay positive and avoid negative energy.
In
addition, there must be individual emphasis on paying daily attention to
constructively undertaking positive lifestyle changes in ensuring proper rest,
diet, wellness, wellbeing, exercise, balance, and motivation. Also, continual emphasis on further enhancing
health, fitness and training (if possible) to preclude direct impact of adverse
side effects and symptoms from the prescribed treatment and therapies.
I realize cancer is an uphill journey which I cannot ever be over-confident nor ever look back, but, only move forward with each step and doing my best in staying positive. It is also very important to be highly “mindful” and take it hour-by-hour, day-by-day and week-by-week – as long as it takes to complete this journey.
